Wind to Power More Homes in Boise

According to a report from KTVB Channel 7 in Boise, a division of General Electric is planning on making a significant $500 million investment on wind generation in Idaho.  GE Energy Financial Services publicly announced their investment intentions on Wednesday June 30th.

The KTVB report said that the wind farms to be used for the venture are already under construction in the Magic Valley near Burley and Hagerman.  Idaho Power has agreed to buy the electricity with a 20 year contract.

It is anticipated that up nearly 40,000 Boise homes and other homeowners around the state may benefit from this new technology.  This will be interesting to see develop as other wind generation projects between Boise and Twin Falls have made little impact on the energy market in southern Idaho.
