Modifying software application code increases security risk

The importance of IT security managing risk of company systems having bugs and vulnerabilities is not news. These threats have been a concern for as long as the computer has been in the office. However, application security has evolved into a more important aspect with all of the new ways hackers and criminals are able to break through firewalls and other security protections that are in place. Even modifying the code of software applications for business use, and to perhaps improve productivity, opens up another avenue of exposure. Modifying code can give hackers easy access to the data housed in the software application.
