A chief executive officer or CEO is the top managerial position in an organization. A CEO is responsible for ensuring that business operational functions run smoothly. A chief executive officer ensures that a company’s targets are planned, organized, and met as per board decisions. A chief executive officer oversees important business departments such as operations, marketing, finance, human resources, compliance, and public relations. A CEO generally reports to the board of directors. A chief executive officer should have a bachelor’s degree and have extreme knowledge and experience of 10+ years in the respective field. Most CEO’s have a masters degree in either business, or a qualification related to the business in question, such as a degree in law, engineering, architecture, medicine, finance, communication, or journalism. A chief executive officer should have strong commercial understanding, deep awareness of the market, and an ability to manage people.
